BBB (Beauty Budget Buy)- Essence of Beauty Powder Brush vs M.A.C 150

WHICH IS WHICH?

So I recently purchased the Essence of Beauty Powder Blush and I am highly pissed! IT IS almost EXACTLY THE SAME AS M.A.C's 150 face brush...dare I say maybe even better? I washed it before playing with it since I bought mostly because I've been impressed and pleased with all my other EOB purchases but (in my best Kat Williams voice)..."This ish right here? This ish right here?". This brush is definitely not your run of the mill drugstore brush. It is soft, dense, DOES NOT SHED, and picks up color very nicely. As I play with it (pics are shown, I can DEFINITELY say that is is softer then my 150. The shapes are same...were you able to guess which was which? The right is the Essence of Beauty brush and the left is M.A.C.'s 150 face brush. $13.00 vs. $42.00...is that really an argument? Knowing what I know now about brushes, I probably wouldn't own any MAC brushes (except the 130..the love of my life). I am a MAC collector though so...there that thought went...straight through the window. Check out both brushes for yourself or let me know your thoughts on each brush below!

LA Splash Cosmetics

I finally got the awesome opportunity to try LA Splash. I became more acquainted with their brand when I used them for a shoot. O...M....G I loved working with those glitters. When I was sent the products, I had intended on using them on my next shoot and using those images as my example but the shoot was rescheduled so I decided to take a chance and use them for myself. I was nervous at first because of my kerataconus but I wore everything I described in the video for 6 hrs around the house WITH NO PROBLEM! I may have had one piece of glitter fall on a lash and that didn't even irritate my eye...the light just made it glare and it bugged me lol. I would still recommend their base though because it really helped the product to adhere to my eye. Beware: blending does become a bit of a chore with this base because it's almost TOO affective. The liner was phenomenal and the lipgloss left the glitter on my lips but it didn't travel. Amazing, right?! When I was ready to wash the face for bed, I used my face wipes and everything came off clean! Nothing svelted (LOL) into my eye or anything. These products are very good and very kind to the sens-i-eye person like myself.. I highly recommend these products but please do be careful because glitters should always be used with caution around the eye area.

FTC: I did not purchase these products. They were sent to be by the product's organization for review. These opinion are my own and was not compensated or influenced in ANY way for this review.

A LOOK FOR WORK SERIES

For those who may not know, I have a series on youtube for professional women of color. All those colorful crazy lashed out looks are nice but let's be real, they are not all work appropiate. Most professional environments are fairly conservative and expect your appearance to reflect their culture. That's why I put this series together. I may hopefully get to do more fun looks but I find that I can kill two birds with one stone in doing my makeup for work and recording it. WIN WIN for the both of us. Check out my most recent video and let me know what you think!

I know lusting is a sin but.....

I have several products that I currently lusting after. I think it has a lot to do with the fact they are not readily available to me in my local Sephora, Ulta, or any other beauty related retailer for that matter. I am in the process of building my kit and the more I see Temptalia, MakeupbyRenRen, Enkore, Makeup Geek, and other tubers/makeup artists turned blogger/makeup addicts. Damn you all. Just kidding...a little bit. Really though. I need these items in my life:

- Inglot eyeshadow pallette (i have to fly to the hometown to stock up...I wish you could order online)
- Urban Decay Naked pallette
- Hakuhodo Brushes
- the ENTIRE MUFE eyeliner set (these things save my life daily)

too much more to type about but TRUST! The wishlist is something serious.

I think that Inglot is my number one lustee at the moment since it is so DAMN inaccessible. **dr evil** oh, Inglot, I shall have my conquest over thee"

Here's the Thing About... Urban Decay Liquid Liner

So I recently purchased the Urban Decay Liquid Liners in Shattered and Radium. Let me tell you...I LOVE these colors. They give you the punch of color that you may have always dreamed of. Out of the colors available, these two stood out the most for me. Not just because blue and green are my favorite colors but because they were loud but, for some reason, subdued. They seemed like colors that, with a little creativity, I could wear to work (provided I focus on a neutral eye and layer with a black liner for a peek-a-boo color effect). I played with them SO MANY TIMES walking in and out of Ulta but always ended up with the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil formula since they are more contact wearer friendly (and yes, I will blog on that in the near future). After letting them dry on my hand while parousing through the OPI section, I found they were really everything they were marketed to be. Budgeproof, smudgeproof with uncomprising color payoff. Urban Decay has yet to disappoint me when it comes to my sensitive eyes. If there was a downfall, however, it would be the time it takes to dry. It can take a little while (not excessively long mind you) but I worry about the seeping factor since I am a "hard" contact wearer and stuff getting in my eye is more painful than a toothache. *cringe* To put it simply, I give this product 9/10 since it CAN seep and takes a little longer to dry than I am used to. Take a look at the pics. Muchos besos queridas!!

My Philosophy on Makeup

It is ironic that I love everything "beauty" and I am by no means a girly girl. I like color. I love expression. I find that these parts of me are satisfied in makeup and hair. College helped me discover my talent in hair. I was a Sports Medicine major...where they do that at? lol. Well, needless to say, my friend challenged me on my passion and goals. Annnnnnnnnd POOF, I majored in Management (for the business side) and am working on my degree in Chemistry to move forward in developing my own hair and makeup products. *pause*. Okay, I'm back. I'm at work tee hee hee. :).

I could go into my life goals and passions but ultimately my philosophy on makeup is that it is meant to "accentuate not create". I know that there are those create the illusion of beauty by cakin on the most full coverage EVERYTHING lol, but what they don't know is that, for me, the secret is to work with what you got and not try to create miracles. That is God's job...lol. Seriously though, I find satisfaction in focusing on my features and how to accentuate them than try to MAKE my face look like my mom's name is Tammy Faye and my pop's name is Bozo the Clown (not to mention my huge disdain for clowns and all they stand for). Did you know there is fraternity for clowns???!!! My heart started thumping even reading about it. I have to take breaths before I go to the Sillyfarm site when I ordered my Ben Nye products. Enough of the ranDUMBness.

I also believe that quality trumps quantity. You can own all the cheap stuff you want but if it isn't worth a darn. What for? I would rather spend $12 for an eyeshadow that will last me for years than buy a $2 one that will crack and/or crumble, disappoint by being powdery or generally sucks in color pay off. I'm just saying. Don't get me wrong Revlon, Maybelline, and L'Oreal are all coming back and demanding the attention of the young and colorful consumers with a vengeance. I'm loving it...."maybe she's born with it...(fill in the blank).

But yeah, I love all that stuff. Things that make me feel beautiful. But understand this, the makeup you put on on the outside can not replace the the beauty that should already exist on the inside. Think about it!
